After recently unveiling a brand-new project, the first single from The Mock-Ups is already here.

The band – who are signed to boutique LA label Gauzy Records – consist of My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way (vocals/bass), The Interrupters’ Kevin Bivona (keys/production), Jesse Bivona (drums) and Aimee Interrupter (backing vocals), and Fender’s Michael Schulz (guitar). Debut single I Wanna Know Your Name is out now on streaming and available to pre-order on vinyl, with Gauzy describing the genre as “punk rock, rock’n’roll and ’77”.

Of course, Gerard has also been incredibly busy lately on MCR’s epic Long Live The Black Parade Tour – for which he even created a whole new language, Keposhka, alongside font designer and comics letterer Nate Piekos.

Speaking about working together, Nate told Kerrang! recently: “Gerard is very good at letting people just do the thing they do. There were plenty of times in the design of Keposhka where he just said, ‘Love it, keep going,’ or, ‘Change this one bit, and then go to town.’ He was very hands-off, but also had clearly defined ideas that we could distil into the language.

“We were on the same wavelength, and when there were questions around what to do, he deferred to me as far as design goes. We know each other and get along well, so he’s a pleasure to work with. Gerard and his assistant were my main communication partners, but he did take things into band practice to show the guys, and they seemed really positive about it all.”

My Chem will be back next year to headline Wembley Stadium in London on July 10 – 11.
