Mikey Way says The Foundations Of Decay is his favourite My Chemical Romance song of all time

Following the surprise release of their first new music in eight years, The Foundations Of Decay, My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way and Frank Iero have given their thoughts about the song online (still nothing yet from Gerard Way or Ray Toro at the time of writing, though).

Bassist Mikey shared that the epic comeback single is his "favourite My Chemical Romance song of all time", while guitarist Frank took to Instagram to write: "'You look stressed out…'

"Happy release day, boys! It's been a while, but I couldn’t be happier to finally say those words or more proud of my brothers and what we have created together. all of it. from the razor to the rosary.

"See you at the shows, frendz."

The Foundations Of Decay is My Chem's first new song since 2014's Fake Your Death, and it remains to be seen whether it's a standalone effort or will be part of an album in the future (fingers crossed for the latter). The band have kept incredibly quiet on their plans for new material, though Gerard did reveal last June that he'd been working on music.

"What’s been working lately is sitting with Doug [McKean], working on the music, and then I’ll just go over to my office – which used to be Marion Peck’s painting studio, and I love that room – and I will sit while Doug mixes, tweaks, edits, programmes more drums…" he said. "I’ll literally sit there and I will write as close as possible to what I think are gonna be either the final lyrics, or at least what I’m comfortable singing at that moment."
