Following the recent release of her new single CONCRETE, Alissic has gone into more detail about her return to music – and why it’s taken two years to get to this point.

In a 20-minute YouTube video entitled ‘the real reason I haven’t released music in 2 years’, the Brazilian artist reflects that, “Everything that happened in these last two years since my last release just makes so much sense now.”

She explains how she had signed to a record label to release her first batch of songs, but found the pressure of social media and having to be an ‘influencer’ as well as a musician meant that she felt as though she had gone down “the wrong path”. At the same time, Alissic had a sense that she wanted to go home to Brazil to connect with her roots and learn more about her family.

With her and husband Oli Sykes moving there, she recalls how she “felt this extreme connection with where I’m from” and it “really clarified my path”, and she began to paint again and felt inspired to work on new projects.

Then, with the label undergoing some changes, Alissic eventually managed to get out of her deal after “months and months and months”, and has since released CONCRETE as an independent artist (with the help and guidance of her family and Oli). “I’m so happy that finally I’m back with the music and I can release all the songs,” she says. “It’s amazing, I think, to be able to do this independently. There is just so much good energy that comes from it.”
