Album review: Ocean Grove – ODDWORLD
Melbourne party-starters Ocean Grove get weird in both good ways and bad on album number four…
Which emo album is the all-time best? Have your say!
This year, My Chemical Romance's groundbreaking album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge celebrates its 15th birthday. Yes, fifteen years. The record that put Gerard Way and co. on the map and sent millions of teenagers across the globe into their nearest stockists of All Black Everything. It's the record that opened the concept of emo to a much wider audience, allowing the likes of Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco and more to follow and ultimately take rock music by storm for the rest of the decade.
But what are the actual diamonds in the emo genre? Well, the genre can mean different things to different people. Sure, the Killjoys will always stan for MCR, but to emo purists the scene is more about Texas Is the Reason, Mineral and Jawbreaker. To some it's strictly that one Jimmy Eat World album they discovered in high school.
