Metal Injection use the term "gatekeeping" to describe the act of being a dick to people you think haven't earned "the right" to wear a band's shirt. It seems like a weird thing to get too upset about: it doesn't affect your relationship with the music you love, so live and let live! Play people music you think they might like, but don't be all bad-vibes-y and dogmatic about it.
