New Batman spin-off series The Penguin is officially in production.

HBO Max have shared a teaser look at the upcoming eight-episode run, which follows last year’s excellent and very emo The Batman movie, and will arrive on the platform sometime in 2024.

The Penguin is confirmed as the ‘first planned spin-off’ following the Matt Reeves film, with Colin Farrell back as the titular character (also known as Oswald ‘Oz’ Cobblepot) and once again completely unrecognisable thanks to some incredible prosthetics.

In a short statement accompanying the trailer, HBO simply say: “The new Max Original Series from Matt Reeves and the next chapter in The Batman saga is now in production. Coming in 2024 to Max.”
