Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross make two shortlists for 2025 Oscars
The 97th Academy Awards shortlists have been revealed, with Nine Inch Nails up for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.
Trent Reznor says he's "very grateful to be recognised by my peers" with two more Oscar nominations in the bag.
Following their Golden Globes win earlier this month, Nine Inch Nails' unstoppable duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have received two Oscar nominations.
The pair appear twice in the Best Original Score category – once again for their soundtrack work on David Fincher's Mank, and wholesome Disney and Pixar movie Soul (alongside musician Jon Batiste).
Discussing the nominations, Atticus tells Billboard that it's "very flattering", while Trent adds, "It's surreal and humbling and incredibly flattering – another thing that kind of doesn't seem real in a year when everything starts to blur together. But we're very grateful."

The NIN frontman later adds: "We want to be do the best we can and we're also competitive people, so, sure, it would be nice to win. Quite honestly, [with] the recognition, we feel like we've exceeded our expectations today. I'm in my office and I can see an Oscar sitting on the shelf, and that's nice."
Trent adds of the lack of proper ceremonies at the moment due to COVID: "We've had a pretty spectacular awards-oriented year: The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, the Emmys. But all of it feels like a blur, like a dream that might have happened because there isn't any [actual awards shows]. There have been a couple Zoom calls, writing emails, a couple phone calls, there wasn't any weird tuxedo pictures, none of that stuff happened. We've been in this weird state of suspended animation. I'm missing the experience of the year, and at the same time, I'm very grateful to be recognised by my peers."
