Machine Gun Kelly sings that he ‘fell in love with an emo girl’ in a teaser for Cherry Red Lipstick, his upcoming collaboration with WILLOW.
With two albums on the way in 2022, Machine Gun Kelly is gearing up to start getting some of this material out, teasing a new collaboration with WILLOW.
Taking to TikTok, the pair lip-sync and dance along to an upcoming track entitled Cherry Red Lipstick, which hears MGK singing that 'I fell in love with an emo girl / I’m in love with an emo girl', as well as noting that she 'takes pics with a cherry red lipstick / Says she only dates guys with a big mmm'.
The song is presumably taken from the musician's "guitar-heavy" new album Born With Horns, which he previously described as "deeper" and a "juxtaposition" to 2020's Tickets To My Downfall.
"Every album is a juxtaposition of the last album," MGK revealed last year. "So I went and studied Tickets…, and I heard the bright sound that I had, and for this album I just turned the lights off.
"I'm not scared anymore, there's nothing holding me back from being my true self – and my true self can't be silenced, can't be restrained. It's a force, it's like a hurricane. Can't stop that, it just goes until it feels like stopping, and I don't feel like stopping anytime soon."
Machine Gun Kelly also told Variety that Born With Horns would be more like "college", while TTMD "was metaphorically high school".
"And I think like, in high school, you don’t really have a sense of responsibility, you have a fear of that responsibility, and so you want to explode and use all that energy for fucking off," he explained. "And then college comes, which is this album, and you are aware of the responsibility and you still know how to have fun, but you understand that there’s a certain duty you have to your life to do something with it.
"Born With Horns feels like it has an objective or a real lesson that you’re walking away with."
