“I like an evil vibe a lot of the time”: Harpy’s five favourite things
Comfortable heels, affectionate serpents, goats and protein shakes: these are the things that make Brit goth mommy Harpy happy.
With her seven deadly sins-inspired debut EP VII arriving this month, Harpy is celebrating all things pride with “debaucherous” new banger Call Me Mommy.
Harpy has just shared a brand-new single, Call Me Mommy.
Following this year’s Last Time and Precious, the nu-goth superstar’s latest banger is all about pride – after all, everything on upcoming debut EP VII was inspired by the seven deadly sins…
“Call Me Mommy encompasses my sin of pride,” Harpy explains. “Set to the backdrop of many hedonistic nights in the underground London club scene. I prowled through those nights, finding debaucherous comrades along the way. I loved every second of it. It’s a soundtrack to my pleasure.”
Harpy previously said that, “VII is a descent into my deepest darkest sins and secrets. The record begins powerfully, in the more maniacal emotions, chaotic rage, power, lust… but we eventually delve deeper into the more vulnerable, shame-inducing sins like sloth and envy. I hope people embrace the multitude of genres throughout this record. I may make heavier ‘rock’ labelled music, but in my soul I am a pop writer, influenced by industrial, tech, goth, metal subcultures, and I think if you understand that, it’s clear to hear through the record.”

VII is due out in full on November 28. Harpy will celebrate the EP at Oslo in London on December 1, and Dust in Brighton the following evening.
