“I wanted to write a song that felt like WAP for fans of heavy music”: Inside RedHook’s new album Mutation
RedHook’s Emmy Mack breaks down every song on new album Mutation and how she learned to reclaim her own identity…
Check out the shimmery new offering by Trade Wind, featuring members of Stick To Your Guns and Stray From The Path.
You might think, to hear that they feature members of punk heavy-hitters like Stray From The Path and Stick To Your Guns, that you know what Trade Wind will sound like. But your anthemic rock assumptions don't do this band justice -- the quartet, who hail from all across North America, play a beautiful, dreamy brand of emotional hard rock whose moments of heaviness are always drenched in echoing distortion and personal introspection.
The band's new song, Certain Freedoms, the title track of their upcoming new album, is a perfect declaration of Trade Wind's tone. On the one hand, the song is mellow and patient, and confronts big issues of the heart with a certain level of thoughtfulness and grace. On the other, it still makes sure to bring growling riffs full of sweeping distortion into the mix, so that fans looking to the band due to their punk rock connections won't feel left out in the rain. The song lives in a solid middle ground, offering hardened rockers something with which to soothe the savage beast.
