Why Yamaha's MusicCast 50 Ticks All The Boxes

Yamaha’s MusicCast 50 was the talking point of the recent Festival of Sound. As a solid, mains plug-in speaker it ticks all the boxes and is fully future-proofed to be used as anything from a sound-bar to bring your flat screens films to life to your Spotify, Tidal or Deezer accounts built in. It’s even compatible with Amazon’s Alexa.

We road tested the sound with Slipknot’s The Devil In I and the sonics were punchy, direct and unclustered. The drums absolutely pummelled and, in a large space, the sound was still full, clean and crisp. It could fill the Kerrang! office with sound easily.

As part of Yamaha’s MusicCast series the 50 from the series can be linked into a multi-room system to stream tunes throughout your home. Link it to the smaller MusicCast 20, the MusicCast SUB 100 or even Yamaha’s wirelessly connectable deck, the MusicCast VINYL 500.

Available in black or white and easily syncable with any Bluetooth or AirPlay devices we are struggling to find anything to criticise this beautifully curved all-rounder.

Get the Yamaha MusicCast 50 for £449. The smaller 20 model is £199 and the sub is £399. The Vinyl deck is £549 – all available from uk.yamaha.com.
