Watch Metallica's Intimate Show At The House Of Vans In London

Metallica have unleashed the next instalment of their concert streaming series, unveiling the full Hardwired… To Self-Destruct celebration show at London's awesome House Of Vans back in 2016.

The metal heroes' November 18 performance that year was a ridiculously special one for a number of reasons: not only were around 850 fans lucky enough to attend the tiny gig, it was also guitarist Kirk Hammett’s 54th birthday on the day – and, if you watch right up to final song Seek & Destroy, you'll see how the band decided to mark that particular occasion. (Spoiler: It involved cake.)

"Trash-style, punk, old-school show, wooden stage…" recalls Rob Trujillo in the intro to the video. "I remember [frontman James] Hetfield being bummed at soundcheck ’cause it was a bit boomy down there, but once the crowd came in it really helped settle the sound. It was much less boomy and had a lot of soul, and attack, and vibe – that show was all vibe.

"It's an incredible show to see, and it really kicked off the Hardwired… tour; it kinda set us off, it was the launchpad for what we were about to experience over the next three years with the Hardwired… record."
