Disturbed announce North American The Sickness 25th anniversary tour
Disturbed are celebrating The Sickness across North America next year, and there’s going to be dates in Europe and the UK getting announced, too.
Think you can ace Disturbed's Down With The Sickness at karaoke? Don't be so sure...
Perhaps the most identifiable mating call in heavy metal is the 'Oooh WAH AH AH AH' shrieked by Disturbed frontman David Draiman at the kick of the band's 2000 hit Down With The Sickness. But while everyone probably thinks they'd be able to do a solid version of that distinct sound, they're probably way out of their league. No further proof is needed than this compilation of performers trying to pull off Draiman's infamous battle cry at karaoke.
Originally posted by Geekologie, the video's subjects fall into two distinct categories: those who've done the noise before in the mirror, and those who don't really get the premise of the noise. Half of the performers in the compilation just sort of say, "Oooh, waaaah..." and thereby admit that they're not big Disturbed fans. The others, however, have obviously screamed Down With The Sickness in the shower, and have always dreamed of the moment when David would invite them onstage to scream along with him. More than anything, the video shows that Draiman has a distinct talent -- only he can pull off that noise just right.

It should be noticed that on Disturbed's later albums, the infamous sound isn't really present, as Draiman decided he didn't want to limit himself to just being That Guy. Similarly, the singer recently chose to remove his infamous chin piercings. “They’re kind of a pain in the butt,” he told Germany’s Deutsche Welle. “It just felt kind of weird walking around like a 45-year-old Hot Topic kid. I just felt it was time.”
