Disney have confirmed that Nine Inch Nails will soundtrack the revamped TRON rides at Magic Kingdom and Shanghai Disneyland, to celebrate the release of Ares.

Announced at this weekend’s Destination D23 showcase, it was revealed that as well as soundtracking the forthcoming TRON: Ares movie, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ music will be heard on the TRON Lightcycle/Run and TRON Lightcycle Power Run, respectively.

Both rides will have a ‘brand-new overlay’ to match the vibes of the film, and the ‘pulsating industrial sounds of Nine Inch Nails will drive the ride’s energy, pushing your experience between the Grid and reality into a fully immersive, futuristic symphony of light, speed, and sound’. This will be going on for a ‘limited time’, with Magic Kingdom’s update beginning on September 15, and Shanghai Disneyland the following day.

NIN’s TRON: Ares soundtrack – the first-ever movie score released under the Nine Inch Nails name – will drop on September 19, while the film hits cinemas on October 10. A brief synopsis reads: ‘TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.’
