Tom DeLonge Left blink-182 To "Change The World For My Kids And Everybody Else's"

In an interesting new video charting the beginnings and rise of his company, To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science, Tom DeLonge has explained why his priorities and interests in life caused him to leave blink-182 (for the second time) in 2015.

The former frontman says that he felt, in some respects, that as an artist he had "conquered" what he wanted to do with music. “The last show I played was in front of 100,000 people," Tom revealed. "They wonder why I’m not doing that now and I’ll say because this is the one moment in my life where I’ll be able to look back as an old man and say, ‘Oh my god, I was a part of the team that changed the world.'"

After then detailing how he grouped a "team of the most experienced, connected and passionately curious minds from the U.S. intelligence community" for To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science, Tom also then elaborated on his desire to benefit humanity – and how that tied into him leaving blink-182.

“I wanted to make a quick message to let you know that, from the heart, I left my band and all that I was known for because this is the moment and time where I can change the world for my kids and everybody else's. I would love for you to consider doing that with us.”
