Following on from the mind-blowing announcement of yesterday’s enormous Black Sabbath gig at Villa Park, Sleep Token’s II has shared a rare statement about his participation in the forthcoming event.

The drummer – who only did his first video interview at the end of 2023 – says that it’s “with reverence and great honour” that he joins the star-studded supergroup portion of the day’s line-up, alongside the likes of Billy Corgan, David Draiman, Duff McKagan, Frank Bello, Fred Durst, Jonathan Davis and Scott Ian.

Of course, famously Sleep Token members almost never give interviews, so it’s interesting to note that II says Sabbath are, “A band whom from the beginning ignited my passion for heavy music and creation at its core.”

As it stands, this incredible tribute show – which takes place at Villa Park on July 5 – will be the fourth chance to catch II live in 2025. Before that, Sleep Token will be playing Germany’s Rock im Park and Rock am Ring, and headlining Download Festival for the first time in June. Check out II’s post about Back To The Beginning below.

Yesterday, Ozzy Osbourne said, “It’s my time to go Back To The Beginning. Time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham forever.”

Tickets go on sale on Friday, February 14 from 10am, with all profits being shared equally between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, a Children’s Hospice supported by Aston Villa.
