Congratulations are in order for the one and only Ozzy Osbourne, who is going to be inducted into this year’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame!
The Prince Of Darkness joins fellow 2024 inductees Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang and A Tribe Called Quest – all of whom are set to receive the honour on Saturday, October 19.
Posting about the news, Ozzy has taken to Instagram to
thank the Rock Hall, plus voters and fans: “My solo career,” he writes, “has
been a much larger part of my overall music career as a whole, so this feels
more special. Not bad for a guy who was fired from his last band.”
The aforementioned acts fall into the Performer category, while elsewhere the Rock Hall will be handing out the Musical Influence award to Alexis Korner, John Mayall and Big Mama Thornton; the Musical Excellence award to Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield; and the Ahmet Ertegun award to Suzanne de Passe.
“Rock & Roll is an ever-evolving amalgam of sounds that impacts culture and moves generations,” says John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “This diverse group of inductees each broke down musical barriers and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps.”
This year’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame takes place at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, and will be streamed live on Disney+.
