Rivers Cuomo has revealed that Weezer have been making their own film.
While onstage at Coachella over the weekend, the frontman announced that the band have been around in Los Angeles to work on the movie for the “last couple weeks”.
“We’ve been busy making the Weezer movie back in LA the last couple weeks,” the singer said during their set on the Mojave stage, right before Undone (The Sweater Song). “But when Coachella called us up and said, ‘Hey Weezer, could you guys make it out for a surprise appearance?’ We were like, ‘Heck yeah!’ It feels so good to be here with you guys and let out these emotions.”
Some digging on Weezer’s Reddit seems to suggest that this big-screen effort will go by the name Weezer: Security Threat. A public notice was shared online (see below) just over a week ago, revealing that filming for it was taking place at 1100 S Broadway all day from April 7 – 9, with ‘simulated bullet effects’, ‘wetting down of street’, ‘atmospheric smoke’ and more among the activities listed. We are absolutely desperate to know more…
