Tim Commerford’s 7D7D announce first-ever UK and European shows
Rage Against The Machine bassist Tim Commerford will be bringing his new band 7D7D across the pond for some headline shows – including an intimate date in London…
Though some fans were baffled by Rage Against The Machine's 'charity' tickets, the band have put them to lucrative use.
Last week, the world was overjoyed to learn that recently-reunited rap-metal icons Rage Against The Machine would be playing a full tour across North America and Europe. But not only were fans bummed by the number of tickets snapped up by scalpers, they were also confused by the band's high-priced 'charity tickets'. But Rage have proved that there was method to their madness, as it's been reported that the charity tickets for this tour managed to raise over $3 million for charity.
During the announcement of Rage Against The Machine's tour, it was revealed that the band would donate a significant amount of the proceeds to charity. They also withheld 10% of the tickets in each city they were headlining, to sell at a higher price with every cent of those sales going to charity. The band released the following statement:
“WE are holding in reserve 10% of the seating (random seats throughout each venue) to sell at a higher ticket price (but low enough to undercut the scalpers) We will donate 100% OF THE MONEY over the base ticket price to charities and activist organizations IN EACH CITY.”

While the effort was noble, some concertgoers were bummed to discover that these charity seats, due in part to price-demand hikes caused by scalpers and bots, were going for as much as $750. However, in a recent Instagram post, Tom Morello revealed that the band's efforts had brought in quite a bit of coin for the charities in question.
"So far we have been able to block approx 85% of scalpers trying to buy tickets and in two days have raised over $3,000,000 for charity," wrote Tom. "Still, annoying scalpers (and misinformation) remain. We appreciate the overwhelming demand and are discussing next steps to ensure more of you will be able to come and see us."
