The big review: Damnation Festival 2024
What happened when Nails, Gatecreeper, Cradle Of Filth and a ton more brought the noise to Manchester for the biggest Damnation Festival yet.
Bright video, dirty sounds – we’re loving this new fare from the rising London trio.

Here’s a new band that fans of those deep groves and raw licks of grunge – when it was properly grungy – can get behind. London’s Dead Pretties are new on the radar, but are definitely, confidently heading closer to its centre with fare like Confidence, which we’re premiering right here.
Dead Pretties are Jacob Slater, Oscar Browne and Ben Firth. They’re also sweat, distortion, and riffs. And we love all three, thanks. (And this video is so early 1990s MTV.)
Confidence comes out via Big Score Records, and follows the band’s previous single, the slightly more sedate but no less scratchy and insistent Social Experiment. They’ve shared stages with the likes of Drenge and HMLTD, played at Latitude and Truck, and you can expect them to be playing larger venues than those listed below if they keep this quality racket up.
