Papa Roach, Rise Against and special guests Underoath are hitting the U.S. next year, with Tim McIlrath promising that, “This will be the best damn tour of 2025!”
Jacoby Shaddix has lifted the lid on what Papa Roach have been working on recently…
Jacoby Shaddix has provided a huge insight into where Papa Roach are at in regard to the sound and lyrical themes of their next album – the follow-up to 2019's Who Do You Trust?.
In a new interview for Zippo Encore Live With Jose Mangin, the frontman revealed that the band have completed "a second round of songwriting", with "seven or eight pieces of music for the next record". Jacoby explains that they plan to hit the studio in the coming months, with a new song arriving before the end of 2020 – and the full album to come in early 2021.

"The stuff we're writing right now is fucking on fire, dude," he says (via Blabbermouth). "Some of it's just heavy and nuts and just aggressive with these massive, big, pummelling riffs. And then there's other stuff that's that kind of experimental all-over-the-place-type stuff. We wrote this other song, like a ballad, where it's just guitar and vocals, and it's so stirring and emotional. This time [during the coronavirus crisis] has definitely stirred up something in the band that's coming out really cool in the music."
Lyrically, the frontman reveals that he's had "some time for introspection, looking inside again", and is preparing a combination of darker material, as well as a few songs "that just have this fun, hopeful vibe too".
"I'm ready for some of that too, ’cause I'm a pretty happy, joyous dude that's got my dark corners and my dark edges but I also know how to have a good time, so I wanna make music that lifts people up as well," he continues. "So I think that balance between the two is gonna make this next record special."
