Neck Deep Live At Blondies London 20.06.18

The band's smallest and probably sweatiest show ever…

Neck Deep Live At Blondies London 20.06.18

Ahead of the Kerrang! Awards last Thursday, we put on a series of rad supporting events.

As part of the celebrations, we asked our friends at Blondies in Clapton, London if they would be cool with hosting another of our K! Pit shows, this time courtesy of Best Song nominees Neck Deep. They agreed, and somehow we squeezed 50 lucky people in to witness the carnage unfold.

If you missed out, however, don't worry. We filmed the whole thing for a future live stream, but in the meantime, have a look at these amazing photos our snapper Jenn Five caught on the night. It was… sweaty.

And if that doesn't convince you what a legendary experience it was, listen to this lot…

CRAIG
“That was my first time seeing them in such a small venue – everywhere else has been either supporting someone or at a festival. I saw them at Reading a few years ago and the tent was packed. Tonight was incredible. Having the chance to be in such close proximity with everyone sweating on everyone else, that’s a proper punk feel.”

ALEX
“That was incredible. It was really weird seeing a band as big as Neck Deep in such a small place – it was really sweaty, really energetic, and I loved it. The pit was a lot of fun, too. I’ve actually got a broken wrist – that happened at Download – so I took a risk going in, but it was worth it! I fell out of love with pop-punk for a while, but I feel like Neck Deep are bringing it back, and I’ve started listening to it again cos of them.”

TANIA
“I got the drumsticks! I’ve never been in such a small venue before, but 100 per cent would do it again. More bands should do this – it was so much fun! It was great being so close and being able to interact, with no barrier and not a massive crowd. I was falling everywhere and Ben (Barlow) was sweating all over me – it was amazing!”

LAURA
“That was fucking amazing – one of the best Neck Deep shows I’ve ever been to. I’ve never seen them anywhere that small, not even at the Barfly! I’m sweaty and horrible now, but that’s cool! I definitely want to go home and shower now, though! The best bit for me was being shoved onstage – well, not onstage, on floor. I’ve been a fan for about five years, and they’ve just got better. More bands should do these kinds of shows.”

OTTO

“That was crazy, man! I didn’t expect there to be that much of a moshpit, it was like a concentrated moshpit! The best bit was when they played In Bloom – the sing-along was really good. I think any band who plays Brixton or Wembley or anywhere should play the venue next to it the night before. That would be amazing, that’s how it should be done.”

OWEN
“It was mental! They’re one of my favourite bands, and the last time I saw them was Brixton, which was quite different, but they still had the same energy, which I loved. I like that this is a good opportunity for fans who maybe can’t get tickets to bigger gigs to see them, and it’s cool that there’s a lot of energy from die-hard fans. It was crazy seeing Ben climbing on the PA, it really added to the passion of the show.”
