Metallica will be awarded the Polar Music Prize tomorrow (June 14).
The metal titans – along with fellow laureate Dr. Ahmad Sarmast, founder of the Afghanistan National Institute of Music (ANIM) – are receiving the prize, which celebrates the power and importance of music, from His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
"We are truly humbled and inspired to be recognised in this manner and hope you will follow along with us throughout the whole experience," the band say.
