Metallica Played To 1% Of Finland's Entire Population Last Night

Plenty of bands play crowds that most fans would be impressed by. To see even three hundred people in a room together to celebrate your music is pretty impressive. But it takes a pretty incredible band to play to a percentage of an entire country's population. And yet that's what Metallica did last night in Hämeenlinna, Finland, where they played to 55,000 fans -- just about 1% of the entire population of Finland.

That's right -- 1% of the population of the entire country. Google currently ranks Finland's population as 5.503 million. Nevermind the fact that Metallica can play to 55,000 people at the drop of the hat -- this means that 1 out of every 100 Finnish citizens was at Metallica's show last night.

This wasn't Metallica's only incredible feat at this stop on their tour. News Now Finland reports that the band also donated 55,000 Euros -- ostensibly one for each ticket sold -- to children's charity Hope Ry. So overall, a productive tour stop by metal's biggest band.
