From Converge to Paramore: The icons who inspired Heriot’s Debbie Gough
Debbie Gough is a total guitar hero. But who inspires the Heriot shredder? Metal, pop and emo stars…
What happens when members of Converge, The Red Chord and Twitching Tongues get together?
Jacob Bannon, it seems, is not quite busy enough. Even during lockdown. Not content with playing in Converge and Wear Your Wounds, being an artist, a husband, a dad and running Deathwish Inc, his new death metal outfit Umbra Vitae are about to drop their first album as well.
Featuring Jacob alongside The Red Chord's Mike McKenzie (guitar) and Greg Weeks (bass), Twitching Tongues guitarist Sean Martin, and Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats drummer Jon Rice (formerly of Job For A Cowboy), taster track Mantra Of Madness is as heavy and creatively rich as one might expect.
Check it out below, and then head to their Bandcamp to pre-order their debut album, Shadow Of Life, out on May 1.
