Adrian Smith will release Monsters Of River And Rock: My Life As Iron Maiden's Compulsive Angler next year.
Joining bandmate Bruce Dickinson in adding an autobiography to his name, Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith is set to publish his life story in May next year.
The guitarist will be releasing Monsters Of River And Rock: My Life As Iron Maiden's Compulsive Angler according to Google, with the 288-page book coming out on May 14 via Ebury, the non-fiction specialists of Penguin Random House.
Adrian joined Maiden back in 1980 and left around 1990, before then rejoining the band in 1999. When Kerrang! recently reflected on the band's groundbreaking 1984 album Powerslave, Adrian had spoken of the subsequent tour and what a slog it was: “The worst part is after you’ve been on the road for six months and you suddenly realise you’ve got another six months to do,” he said. “It’s like doing time. You’re kind of in your own cell anyway, a little cocoon – either in a plane or a hotel or a bus, and there’s security guards. It really cuts you off from real life.”
“At no point on the tour did we ever get to the point where anybody hated each other,” Bruce told Kerrang!. “We held that end of it together very well. Because we all realised what each of us was going through, and if someone threw a wobbler – which we all did at some point – it was, ‘Shall we leave the room and let him wreck the place and come back later?’ Because everyone was going through it.”
Of course, Bruce's What Does This Button Do? came out in October of 2017, and was a huge hit, so Monsters Of River And Rock… should be an awesome read too.
