Listen to IDLES' new track Mercedes Marxist
IDLES have released a brand new track called Mercedes Marxist, their first new music since last year's incredible Joy As An Act Of Resistance album.
There's no telling if this new track will form part of a new full-length or IDLES just exercising their musical muscles with a cheeky single, but it certainly doesn't sound like they're calming down any.
“Mercedes Marxist was a strange beast for us, after Rottweiler, it was the first song we wrote for Joy As An Act Of Resistance," says frontman Joe Talbot.
“I was pissed off at what I was and where I was: I was sofa surfing on the weekends and spending the weeks looking after my mum.
“My life balance was way off and this song reflects just how useless I felt. It was me at my worst and without any buoyancy it became catharsis.
“It was the last splurge from Brutalism so we admitted it. I like it now.”
You can pre-order a Mercedes Marxist 7" on Bandcamp, which features another unreleased track I Dream Guillotine
Earlier this year, the band posted on Instagram that they're "Writing like we have never done it before," so surely it's just a matter of time before we hear even more tracks. We want them now!
IDLES are playing All Points East festival in London on May 31 alongside Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Run The Jewels and more. Get your tickets now.
