The band for the ages, Biffy Clyro, open the archives and dust off their early works during three-night stand in London town
Umbrella or sunglasses? Wellies or flip-flops? It’s finally time to find out what we’re going to need to pack for this weekend’s Download Festival at Castle Donington…
Updated – Friday, June 10:
Today’s the day – and things are looking very good indeed! As Download Festival properly kicks off at Donington Park, the weather looks like it’s gonna hold out for us, with BBC Weather reporting ‘sunny intervals and a fresh breeze’ today, with some actual proper sun between 6pm – 9pm.
Tomorrow will be more of the same, though perhaps a tiny bit more cloudy, but still with highs of 20 degrees. Then, on the final day, we’ll enjoy ‘sunny intervals and a moderate breeze’, with a spot of morning sunshine and highs of 18 degrees.
We’ll take that, weather gods!
Updated – Tuesday, June 7:
Happily, as we reported yesterday, things are all still looking pretty good, with very little changing at the moment!
According to BBC Weather, Friday still promises ‘sunny intervals and a fresh breeze’, with mid-to-late afternoon looking best in terms of heat. Saturday is looking pretty much the same, with a bit of proper sun coming out at around 9pm apparently?! Then, on Sunday, we'll still be experiencing ‘sunny intervals and a moderate breeze’. The main thing is the rain stays away, right?!
Original story – Monday, June 6:
It’s time! Following the massive success of last year’s Download Pilot, this weekend a full-scale Download Festival will return to Donington Park, with KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro topping the bill.
We’ve already had a pretty crappy excuse for a summer so far, but is Download going to be any different? Well, according to BBC Weather, things shouldn’t be too bad for the rock and metal weekender, with plenty of ‘sunny intervals’ and various levels of a breeze forecasted right now (of course, we’ll keep an eye on things and update this page regularly).
Crucially, the only rain so far seems to be for the Wednesday when keen fans begin to arrive, but the rest of the weekend should hopefully be fairly clear…
Right now, the Friday of Download will have ‘sunny intervals and a fresh breeze’, with highs of 21 degrees and even a bit of actual proper sun from 6pm onwards. By the time KISS take to the stage for their headline set, it’ll still be around 16/17 degrees, with their massive show surely warming up the Donington skies in the evening.
The Saturday is pretty much the same as the day before, with ‘sunny intervals and a moderate breeze’. Again, there’ll be highs of 21 degrees, with a nice warm afternoon for the likes of Mastodon, Deftones and Shinedown, before Megadeth headline the Second Stage, and Iron Maiden bring their Legacy Of The Beast show to the Main Stage at night.
‘Sunny intervals and a moderate breeze’ are on the menu for the final day of Download, with some clouds hanging around but a nice high of 19 degrees in the late afternoon for a spot of Rise Against, Volbeat and Korn. Then, when Biffy blow everyone’s minds in the evening, we’ll all be joyously singing along in a cool 14/15 degrees…
Download Festival takes place at Donington Park on June 10-12. Get your tickets now.
