Live review: Iron Maiden, London Stadium
Goal! Maiden’s coming home as ’Arry’s ’Ammers win big at 50th-anniversary West Ham super-gig.
Iron Maiden took things back to the beginning with their sensational Run For Your Lives tour – here’s what went down…
Tonight in Budapest (May 27), the mighty Iron Maiden kicked off their Run For Your Lives European tour by turning back the clock in pretty epic fashion. With British Lion's Simon Dawson now on drumming duty following the retirement of Nicko McBrain late last year, the heavy metal legends powered through a thunderous 17-song setlist dedicated solely to the band's first nine albums.
Opening on Murders In The Rue Morgue from 1981's Killers album (its first outing in two decades), Maiden delivered a treasure trove of fan favourites from their first 12 years, including Phantom Of The Opera, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son – they even busted out the title-track to Killers for the first time since 1999.
The Run For Your Lives tour continues throughout Europe and the UK all summer, with many more dates no doubt soon to be added.
If you're heading along to witness Maiden in their 50th year, here's what's in store...
