To help those impacted by the current California wildfires, Guitar Center Music Foundation have unveiled a one-time grant to replace instruments or gear.
The Guitar Center Music Foundation have announced a one-time grant to replace instruments destroyed by the California wildfires.
From now until February 28, they’re accepting applications from musicians and music instruction programs in the affected areas to replace instruments and/or gear up to $1,500 (you can see the exact criteria and apply here).
“We appreciate your patience as we work to help you and the many others who have lost instruments due to this disaster,” they say.
As well as instruments lost to the blazes, rock stars have sadly had their entire homes destroyed – including Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith, and Primus guitarist Larry ‘Ler’ LaLonde.
“We are safe,” posted Adrian’s wife Natalie. “We have each other. We will start again. Thank you for your support during these trying times.”
“Well, we were bouncing around different ideas to remodel our home, but ultimately the Palisades fire decided on a more “open” floor plan. My mind is still trying to convince me this whole thing is real,” wrote Ler.
“As the losses in this fire trickle into my brain, it feels like being hit with a bag of rocks over and over, but the people around us make me feel like the luckiest mother fucker on the planet to have these people in my life. I don’t know how we could mentally survive this without the support of some amazing friends. Unfortunately this is a situation almost everyone in this town is in. Many unknowns here for now…”
