Green Day share 2001 live performance of Blood, Sex And Booze from Japan
Taken from next month’s Warning (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition), Green Day have unveiled a live version of Blood, Sex And Booze from Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe in 2001.
Take a look back at Green Day’s Saviors era with their new video for Suzie Chapstick, featuring the band on some absolutely giant stages, and of course plenty of goofing around backstage and on the road…
Green Day have just shared a new video for Suzie Chapstick, very much summing up how much they’ve enjoyed their Saviors era.
The band’s January 2024 14th record spawned a huge global tour as well as some fun surprises, which this new clip includes – from their tiny, surprise gig at Covent Garden’s Marquis pub to busking on a New York subway station with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “Soooo it’s pretty hard to believe it’s been two years since we kicked off the Saviors run,” Green Day write. “What a trip! The Suzie Chapstick vid is a look back at alllllll the chaos (and everything in between). Huge thanks to Ryan and Alice Baxley for capturing these moments, and to all of you for coming along with us. It’s been one hell of a ride!”
Speaking to Kerrang! in May this year about their whole Saviors chapter, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong proudly said, “God, I can’t even explain it, really. It’s been so great. Playing Wembley Stadium was really special. When you see that many people in front of you, and everyone is just having a great time… I think that show [stands out]. But really, there’s been no lows of any kind. It’s all been in good fun, and the spirits have been pretty high.”
Reflecting on things like The Tonight Show and the Marquis gig, he enthused, “It’s been so organic. When we played the acoustic set at the Marquis and then we did the subway concert and acoustic set on Jimmy Fallon – that’s how it all started, and it just felt very real. It was a great start, and it keeps going. It’s been a great ride, this last year-and-a-half. It’s been really special – it’s been one of my favourite eras that we’ve ever had.”
