Ghost have unfortunately had to cancel their April 30 show at Spain’s Palacio Vistalegre.

The upcoming Skeletour stop in Madrid has been abandoned due to “complex production issues beyond our control”, with the band sharing in a statement that they tried to move the performance to the city’s Movistar Arena, but the “current basketball league’s schedule has rendered the venue unavailable”.

They add that the band are “devastated and shares in the disappointment caused by these unforeseeable circumstances”, and stress that, “Every attempt possible will be made to return and deliver the show Madrid deserves!”

“It is with deep regret that we inform you the Ghost show on April 30th at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid has been canceled. Due to complex production issues beyond our control, the venue is unable to safely accommodate the weight and size of our production. Despite highest efforts to move the show to Movistar Arena, the current basketball league’s schedule has rendered the venue unavailable.

“The band is devastated and shares in the disappointment caused by these unforeseeable circumstances. Every attempt possible will be made to return and deliver the show Madrid deserves!

“Tickets will be refunded at points of purchase starting April 30th.”

In our review of the first night of the Skeletour in Manchester on April 15, we revealed of just how big a production this really is: “Every couple of minutes delivers something that’s as impressive in its scale as its creative ingenuity. Whispers in K!’s ear pre-show are that, having previously used eight or nine lorries to cart it all around, this time it takes no fewer than 20, and each venue needs to have an extra power supply to take the strain. Watching it, you wonder how it’s all enough.”
