Last weekend we should have been celebrating 50 years of Glastonbury, but due to the ongoing circumstances, the Worthy Farm extravaganza was cancelled.
Various iconic sets were shared on BBC iPlayer recently – including Metallica's headline set and IDLES' blistering performance from 2019 – and artists across the globe paid tribute to one of the world's biggest and most beloved festivals.
Taking to Instagram, Courtney Love shared her memories of Hole's epic performance on the Pyramid Stage in 1999, playing just hours before headliners R.E.M. In fact, as Courtney reveals, she arrived on site with R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe via helicopter, having spent the previous days hanging out together.
"We’d spent a few days in London which is why I wrote his home state of Georgia on my stomach," says Courtney. "I wanted to see my old friend Joe Strummer and his band play."
"We were in a British military helicopter, I loved it!" he continues. "I took helicopters to festivals after that. We’d played big UK festivals before, but I was in better health that year."
