Charli XCX has revealed that she’s making a rock album.

In a new interview with Vogue, the electropop superstar confirms that her next LP – which was recorded last October during Paris Fashion Week – signals a ‘rock reinvention’.

“I think the dancefloor is dead,” she tells the publication, while playing them some of this secret new material, “so now we’re making rock music.”

Charli goes on to explain that it “would have felt really hard, really sad” to make another album in the vein of 2024’s wildly successful BRAT, and that she’s found it “interesting” to “bend the possibilities of what my perspective on [making rock music] could be”.

She adds that, “For me, it’s fun to flip the form. We know there’s gonna be people who are bothered by it, but that’s fine.”
