Sonic Temple is going bigger than ever for 2025 with Metallica, Korn, Linkin Park, Bad Omens, Poppy, Motionless In White and more across four days...
Here’s everything you need to know about the rock and metal Record Store Day releases in the UK in 2022 – from Bring Me The Horizon to Gerard Way to Sleep Token and more.
Record Store Day 2022 is go! Hundreds of amazing vinyl releases have been unveiled, ready to hit UK record stores on April 23.
In the world of rock and metal, the big-hitters this year are Bring Me The Horizon, Gerard Way, Sleep Token, Kirk Hammett, Pearl Jam, The Pretty Reckless, Gojira, Halestorm and more, all of which are releasing some very special 7", 10" and 12" records.
RSD regular Billy Bragg enthuses of the whole event: "I was excited to be involved in the first Record Store Day and, 15 years later, I'm amazed to see how this initiative has grown. But this year it feels more important than ever to be taking part. The pandemic has been tough for retailers and artists alike, causing havoc at vinyl pressing plants and making it difficult for musicians to tour. So it’s crucial that we all get involved and make this year’s RSD the best one so far."
Here's a brief look at some of what you can (hopefully!) get your hands on this year:
Bring Me The Horizon
The Sheffield metal titans are celebrating their 'early years' with their 2004 – 2013 best-of on never-before-released splatter vinyl, featuring the likes of early bangers Traitors Never Play Hang-Man and Pray for Plagues, through to Sempiternal scene classics like Can You Feel My Heart? and Sleepwalking.
Cypress Hill
1991 single How I Could Just Kill A Man is coming out on a 10" vinyl with two remixes from the hip-hop legends.
Gerard Way
The My Chemical Romance frontman's debut (and currently only) solo album Hesitant Alien will be released as a lovely blue vinyl. Ooooh!
Gojira
Excellent 2014 CD/DVD Live At Brixton Academy is getting the vinyl treatment for the first time ever as a Record Store Day 2022 exclusive edition.
Halestorm
The band's recent single Back From The Dead (taken from the upcoming album of the same name) will be out on a die cut tombstone shaped 7” single, backed with a cover version of The Who's Long Live Rock.
Kirk Hammett
Having recently announced his Portals EP of "soundtracks to the movies in your mind", for RSD the Metallica shredder will be releasing the record on an 'ocean blue LP'.
Opeth
Celebrating its 24th anniversary, My Arms Your Hearse will be available on '140g purple/white swirl LP with gatefold sleeve'.
Pearl Jam
PJ's 1998 live album, Live On Two Legs (their first major live recording), will be coming out on 2LP with gatefold packaging.
The Pretty Reckless
Second album Going To Hell will be coming out on a picture disc, and it'll be 'numbered but no download code'.
Skunk Anansie
The London icons get stripped-back with their An Acoustic Skunk Anansie 12", with 1,000 copies coming out on 2LP turquoise and pink vinyl.
Slash
Latest album with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, 4, is celebrated via the Live At Studios 60 2LP, which is a livestream of the band performing their new record in its entirety.
Sleep Token
Sundowning Deluxe will hit coloured vinyl, and will also feature four bonus tracks that were previously only available on digital platforms!
The Wildhearts
2021's incredible 5/5 album 21st Century Love Songs will be celebrated further with the release of a 10" four-track coloured record of bonus songs.
