Bloodstock have revealed their plans to honour Ozzy Osbourne at next month’s festival.

The heavy metal bash – which takes place at Catton Park from August 7 – 10 – will feature an “unmissable 17m Ozzy tribute wall” near the main stage, where fans can “write their heartfelt messages of tribute and/or condolence on it”.

Bloodstock say there will be “other commemorative moments during the festival” on top of that, and we can probably presume that many of the bands playing will also pay tribute themselves, given The Prince Of Darkness inspired quite literally everyone on the line-up (headliners Machine Head even covered War Pigs and Children Of The Grave in the immediate aftermath of the news last week).

A full statement from Bloodstock reads: “All at Team Bloodstock are devastated at the loss of Ozzy, the one and only Prince Of Darkness. Some members of our team were lucky enough to be at Villa Park for the almighty Black Sabbath’s incredible final show, others watched the livestream… all were moved. The impact that Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne had on heavy metal can never be overstated.

“It’s been touching to see all the tributes from across the world since his passing, and we know Bloodstockers have big hearts. There will now be an unmissable 17m Ozzy tribute wall next to the main stage (by the charity stands), and Bloodstock encourages all fans to write their heartfelt messages of tribute and/or condolence on it. There will be other commemorative moments during the festival as well. Horns aloft.”
