Following March’s first look at the long-awaited sequel, Warner
Bros. have just unveiled the first proper trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Due to hit cinemas on September 6, the follow-up to the 1988
original will see Michael Keaton reunite with director Tim Burton, alongside Winona
Ryder (playing Lydia Deetz) and Catherine O’Hara (as Delia). There’s also some fantastic new names for round two, including Justin
Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe and more.
A synopsis describes how, this time around, ‘three generations
of the Deetz family return home to Winter River’ after an ‘unexpected family
tragedy’. ‘Still haunted by Beetlejuice,’ the plot reads, ‘Lydia’s life is
turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the
mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is
accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of
time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous
demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.’
Sounds great! And as Lydia warns us at the start of the trailer: “Be warned. It’s intense…”
