Album review: YUNGBLUD – Idols
It’s YUNGBLUD like you’ve never heard him before. The 27-year-old Doncaster misfit explores self-belief and the power of change with the first part of his grand double album…
In the run-up to this Friday’s new album, YUNGBLUD hit the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to cover The Verve, and perform his recent single Zombie.
Happy Idols week! To celebrate the impending release of his new album, YUNGBLUD hit the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge for a very special appearance.
As well as performing recent single Zombie for this new radio session, Dominic Harrison unleashed an impeccable cover of The Verve’s classic single Bitter Sweet Symphony, calling the whole thing “a dream”. Watch both performances now.
In our 4/5 review of Idols, we called it a ‘go-getter of a record that pays homage to the greats whilst still feeling brand new. YUNGBLUD’s outlandishness makes him a hard pill to swallow for some, but his guts, drive, and devotion to his craft cannot be denied.’

Idols is due out on June 20 via Locomotion/Island. Catch YUNGBLUD at the UK leg of Idols – The World Tour 2026, with support from The Warning.
