“We heard you. We’re coming”: SOAD announce South America stadium tour
Thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long to find out what System Of A Down were teasing: the band will be hitting some massive places in South America in the spring…
System Of A Down's Serj Tankian slams President Trump over Iran drone strike
System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian has condemned President Donald Trump for the assassination of Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani.
A drone strike on Soleimani's convoy took place last Friday (January 3) and has led to increased tensions between Iran and the United States, with potential serious consequences and retaliation from the Middle Eastern country.
Taking to social media, Serj called for no more war, retweeting a meme from documentary maker Michael Moore – who also directed the video for System Of A Down's track Boom!.
"A month before his impeachment trial in the Senate and on an election year Trump makes a call to assassinate a leader of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. A move Clinton made, bombing Iraq before his Senate impeachment," reads the tweet.
"We’re saying NO TO ANOTHER WAR!"
There has been rumour and speculation of a new SOAD record for years, with their latest album – Mesmerize and Hypnotize – being released in 2005.
Last year, drummer John Dolmayan called for his bandmates to "put all the bullshit aside" and "check the massive egos at the door" for the goal of making another record.
Serj has also recently spoken about being in favour of releasing previously unheard material from their 2005 album sessions.
System Of A Down will headline Download Festival UK on June 12-14 at Castle Donington, alongside Iron Maiden, KISS, Korn and Deftones. Get your tickets here.
