Who are Slipknot’s fans?
We head down to Slipknot’s Here Comes The Pain tour in Manchester to meet the Maggots that had their lives changed forever by nine masked men from the cornfields…
Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has covered – and completely reimagined – Slipknot's new single Solway Firth.
Just over 24 hours after the release of Slipknot's incredible new single Solway Firth, Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has covered – and completely reimagined – the track.
No stranger to a cover or two (including Slipknot's previous We Are Not Your Kind single Unsainted), the Trivium vocalist and guitarist has adapted Solway Firth pretty much in record time, with fans on his Twitch page requesting him to cover it almost instantly.
"This cover was recorded during KiichiChaosKaraoke – a time where subscribers of my Twitch page choose a song for me to learn; timing down the pick by 5 minutes – auction-style," explains Matt. "Once picked, the song has to be learned and performed in its entirety – immediately – no matter how long it takes."
Given there's nine members of Slipknot, each of whom playing their own intricate part, Matt's solo cover with an acoustic guitar is obviously nothing like the original; instead, he's transformed Solway Firth into a pretty ominous-sounding acoustic number – all the more impressive given how quickly he had to learn it. Bravo, sir.
