Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn has been up to his old acoustic tricks again, performing a very special Happy Hour over the weekend.

Hosted on Facebook Live and subsequently uploaded to YouTube (as you can watch below), Robb invites us into his home studio as he blasts through some Machine Head favourites as well as some absolute rock an metal classics.

Throughout the two-and-a-quarter-hour livestream, Robb treats us to The Burning Red, Is There Anybody Out There? and Darkness Within from his own catalogue, but – while taking requests from fans – he delivers some acoustic renditions of Nirvana's Heart-Shaped Box, Slipknot's Snuff, System Of A Down's Aerials and Pearl Jam's Black.

Of course, Robb's Happy Hour isn't the only time we've seen the Machine Head maestro covering some of his favourite artists. Last year in The K! Pit, the full band covered the likes of Alice In Chains, Sepultura, White Zombie, Black Sabbath and more.

Check out the full hour-long set below.

Don't expect to see Robb in the flesh any time soon, though. Speaking to Kerrang! recently, when asked about the possibility of Machine Head performing a drive-in or socially-distanced show, he responded with an emphatic "Fuck no!"

"I just watched some stupid drive in show the other day where people sat in their cars and honked when they liked what the band was playing, and it was the stupidest fucking shit I’ve ever seen," he said. "

If cover bands want to do that shit, it’s cool. They should have fun. But the whole point of a Machine Head show is having those 5,000 people screaming every word, pressed against the barrier, getting sweaty and piling into giant circle-pits – just that cathartic release of energy. If the only option is drive-ins for a while, I can wait.”
