Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe and more share super-heavy cover of Prince's I Would Die 4 U

Prince And The Revolution's 1984 album Purple Rain is brilliant. The film of the same name it soundtracks is rubbish, but that doesn't matter: soundtrack bangs. So hard, in fact, that it was assumed that its up-tempo hit I Would Die 4 U was being exhibited in its final form.

Behold, then, what Prince probably had in mind but couldn't quite make work when he recorded it. U.S. metal web types Two Minutes To Late Night have given it the hardcore treatment, with Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe taking the lead, alongside Gorilla Biscuits / Rival Schools' Walter Schreifels and Harm's Way's Bo Lueders, to mark the late superstar's birthday on June 7.

It's heavy…

This isn't Randy's first cover rodeo this year. Back in April, he hooked up with FEVER 333's Jason Aalon Butler for a version of Bad Brains' I Against I.

"As we all know, this pandemic has sucked for live music, but the quarantine jams bands have been doing have been pretty fun, especially when you bring in guests,” he said. "I saw FEVER 333 for the first time at the Sonic Temple fest – I had never listened to them, but I was blown away by their live show. I remember thinking, ​‘Man, these dudes are wild; their energy reminds me of the punk shows I saw in the ’80s and I’ve been friends with those dudes from that day. I even texted Darryl from Bad Brains that afternoon to tell him to check them out. It was only natural to ask Jason to join us and bring that energy to this song by the almighty Bad Brains, my favourite band of all time.”
