A new TEDx Talk from Petrol Girls’ Ren Aldridge has just
been uploaded.
The musician and activist delivered the talk back in December,
though the 18-minute video has just hit YouTube today – which Ren says she’s
“pleased and slightly nervous” about. It’s on the topic of femicide (which is
described as ‘the intentional killing of women or girls because they are female’)
and how it could be stopped.
“Through a whole load of research, I drew out six key ways that
we can contribute to ending femicide,” Ren explains. “Please check it out,
please share it. Femicide is not inevitable and there are ways that we can
change society to stop it from happening!
“Shout out as ever to my good friend Janey Starling for her
incredible work on this topic, and to everyone who read over the talk
beforehand, including Anna from Feminist Autonomous Centre for Research, Athens
and Alison Phipps from the Abolition Feminism network, UK.”
