Fall Out Boy have revealed their first two live shows of 2025
You’re up, Arizona and Mexico: Fall Out Boy will be heading over for a couple of festival appearances next year…
See Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump cover Nothing Compares 2 U in Atlanta last night, following the death of Sinéad O’Connor.
In honour of the late Sinéad O’Connor, who sadly passed away yesterday (July 26), Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump performed a partial cover of Nothing Compares 2 U at the band’s So Much For (Tour) Dust show last night.
It’s not the first time the frontman has tackled the song on this run in the medley part of their set, but his gorgeous rendition at the Cellairis Amphitheatre in Lakewood, Atlanta certainly proved to be a touching tribute for the late Irish singer – who popularised the song in 1990 following Prince’s original version five years prior.
And many other members of the rock and metal community have also since paid tribute to Sinéad O’Connor following her passing. Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan called her “fiercely honest and sweet and funny”, adding: “She was talented in ways I’m not sure she completely understood. But Sinead stands alone as a figure from our generation who was always true to the piercing voice within and without. And for that I will always admire and respect her. And never forget that she was once cancelled for an act of simple resistance. Her crime? Tearing up a photo.”
Garbage’s Shirley Manson simply tweeted, “I am heartbroken,” while Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea wrote: “For all us street kids, for all us wildlings, when Sinéad got huge, it felt like one of us made it. It was incredible. I’m not trying to compare myself or anyone else to Sinéad, she is one of a kind, but that’s what it felt like to me. Like she was one of us. She was like Billie Holiday to me. All her pain, all her beauty, those incredible songs. She deserves sainthood.”
