13 bands everyone loves who never achieved superstardom
Here are 13 bands whose praises everyone sings, but who will forever remain in the underground.
American stoner metallers Torche have just dropped a new single, new U.S. tour dates, AND news of a new album.
It's been a hot second since Floridan stoner metallers Torche graced the world with their galumphing sound. But the band has now announced that they'll be releasing their fifth album, titled Admission, later this year -- and they've dropped a new single and a bunch of U.S. tour dates to accompany the news.
“This album is more revealing of who we are," says guitarist Jon Nuñez. Regarding the band's new configuration -- with Nuñez switching to guitar and Eric Hernandez of Wrong taking over on bass -- Jon says, "I think the core of the band is happier and more inspired than we have been in some time, and we’ve got somebody new who’s excited to be a part of it. It’s just refreshing. It feels right. It feels real."
The single, Slide, is everything you've come to love from Torche -- a sledge of riffs with magically uplifting accents heightening the band's solid, powerful chug. Drummer Rick Smith describes the song as "one of the first songs Eric came to the table with, fully realized and arranged...Eric is a total beast of a songwriter. I suggested he use the first three Gary Numan records as inspiration and he came back at us with some melodically sound material that nailed the Torche vibe.”
