Never a band to take the obvious route, Tool have signed, um, a kitchen sink and put it up for auction to benefit The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.

Maynard James Keenan, Danny Carey, Adam Jones and Justin Chancellor have all scribbled on a stainless-steel sink, which will be auctioned off in an Icons & Idols: Trilogy Rock 'N' Roll auction by Julien's Auctions. Proceeds will go to The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, a non-profit formed for the late heavy metal vocalist, who lost his life to stomach cancer in 2010.

If you're after a more standard – but equally as cool – item, there are also a bunch of rare and one-of-a-kind guitars that will feature in this latest collection, including axes signed by the likes of Slash, Avenged Sevenfold and Motörhead.

Elsewhere, within the 900 items offered at this auction, two guitars owned, played and partly made by Eddie Van Halen will be available to bid on, as well as Kurt Cobain’s Fender Stratocaster that was smashed on Nirvana’s In Utero Tour.

“As we were preparing for our annual Icons & Idols: Rock and Roll auction line-up, we were stunned to hear the sad news of Eddie Van Halen’s passing,” said Julien’s Auction’s president Darren Julien. “We are honoured to include at this event two of his iconic guitars from his brilliant and blazing career as one of rock’s greatest and most gifted guitar heroes.”
