It finally happened! At this weekend’s home state Sea.Hear.Now Festival, The Gaslight Anthem were joined by Bruce Springsteen to perform History Books live together for the first time…
More than a year on from the single’s release, The Gaslight Anthem have just performed History Books live for the first time with the song’s mega guest star, Bruce Springsteen.
At this weekend’s Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Gaslight and Bruce’s home state of New Jersey, the band welcomed The Boss to the stage in Asbury Park before his own headline set to help open up their 14-song performance. They kicked off straight into History Books, before playing 2010’s American Slang together, too (later on during the show, TGA were also joined by Karina Rykman for their Ocean Eyes cover, and their classic single The ’59 Sound).
“When Bruce Springsteen said I should write a duet for us, I think my head exploded,” frontman Brian Fallon previously said of History Books. “It will never get old to me that one of the greatest songwriters in the world, and the voice of one of my heroes will forever be captured in a song I wrote at a small wooden desk, in October, in New Jersey.”
