The Amity Affliction have just shared the next single from their forthcoming ninth album House Of Cards.
Entitled Bleed, the raging track is described by vocalist Joel Birch as “a bit of a ‘fuck you’ to people online who leave comments like they know me personally or know anything about what’s happening in my life, and a bit of a reminder to myself that I am not beholden to that idea, and I am the person I know myself to be.
“‘I bleed the way I bleed…’ is my way of saying that I am the way I am, not the way I am perceived to be by people who don’t actually know me and have formed or projected an idea of me onto me by way of social media.”
House Of Cards is due out in full on April 24 via Pure Noise. Recently speaking to Kerrang! about the record and how things feel in the band right now, Joel revealed, “Everything from [2018’s] Misery onwards, I’ve been pretty anxious about. This one, I’m probably the least anxious about, maybe because we’ve been sitting on it for ages. I’ve shown a bunch of friends, and we actually made sure that everyone in our crew – we’re only missing one person – is on the record, doing gang vocals. That’s the special thing: it’s a group effort.
“I think it’s the best one since [2014’s] Let The Ocean Take Me, and I’m sticking to that.”
