SOAD and Deftones play one-off Golden Gate Park show together – here’s the setlists

Over the weekend, System Of A Down and Deftones joined forces for a massive one-off show at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

The two heavy music legends brought together some 50,000 fans – along with other bands The Mars Volta, Viagra Boys and VOWWS on the line-up – for an incredible-looking day of heavy music on Saturday, August 17.

And both performances marked a fairly rare occasion to see these bands in 2024: Deftones have been at some festivals over the past few months, with their Dia De Los Deftones event still to come in November, but this was only SOAD’s second live date of the year following Sick New World in April.

Deftones came up first, with a 75-minute, 15-song set of absolute bangers, opening with Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away) before going into My Own Summer (Shove It). Elsewhere, they played the likes of Swerve City, Diamond Eyes, Rosemary and Change (In The House Of Flies), before finishing up with 7 Words.

System had the longer show, playing for 85 minutes and squeezing in a 25-song setlist. They had their 2020 single Genocidal Humanoidz as an opener for the first time, and dropped the likes of Suite-Pee, Prison Song, B.Y.O.B. and Deer Dance early on (oooooft!). Their show included Mr. Jack for the first time since 2019, and P.L.U.C.K. and Know for the first time since 2018, and also included mega-hits like Chop Suey!, Lonely Day, Aerials, Toxicity and set-closer Sugar.
