James Cody Lollar, known by his shadowy synthwave alter-ego GosT, has passed away, aged 46.

Coming up through the scene that spawned the likes of Perturbator and Carpenter Brut, GosT made a name for himself by bringing a sinister, serrated edge to the dancefloor, adding heavy layers of metal and macabre – often with horror movie motifs.

His management team Bad Behaviour shared the tragic news on social media earlier today (April 2), saying, "The whole GosT team is incredibly saddened to inform you that James Cody Lollar, known as GosT, passed away yesterday. We are sending all our prayers to his family and friends during this time of grief. He will be remembered as a wonderful human being and a tremendously talented artist.

"We kindly ask that everyone respect the privacy of his loved ones during these difficult times. He will be deeply missed by all."
